Propaganda : A selection of posters from the Australian War Memorial & recent commissions
Date: 20 April - 8 July 2018
Location: Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery Civic Reserve, Dunns Road Mornington, Victoria 3931, Australia

Propaganda: A selection of posters from the Australian War Memorial presents posters from across all of the major 20th century conflicts and gives a remarkable insight into the power of information graphics and the use of advertising and communication strategies in eliciting fear, loathing and calls to action.

Three contemporary Australian poster artists, Alison Alder, Wendy Murray and Jake Holmes, have been commissioned to make new work in response to the propaganda posters in the AWM collection. These commissions creatively explore and celebrate the Memorial’s poster collection and present fresh perspectives on the unique aesthetic and history of propaganda posters.

Propaganda is co-curated by Danny Lacy Senior Curator MPRG and Alex Torrens, Curator of Art, Australian War Memorial. Exclusively presented at MPRG, this project is timed to commemorate the centenary of the First World War 1914-1918.

Kandos Museum AIR : documenting interesting items in the Museum collection

The Day After
Knowing how much I love to draw, the staff and volunteers at the Kandos Museum invited me to spend some time with the collection. Set up on a table in the main collections room, I developed three drawings and finished two cups of tea. Thanks for being such great hosts @kandosmuseum

Tea Towel Printing Workshop by Wendy Murray

Making a Print Station
The workshop yesterday was a terrific success! Artists, writers and interested locals from all over the region came along and together we made print magic! A nice surprise to catch up with artist Christine McMillan again - we last worked together on an installation project at the Maitland Regional Art Gallery in 2006.
