Mini Neon Series by Wendy Murray

Mini Neon Series, 2023
Screenprint on French Paper 140 lb Cover
8-1/2 x 11 in
Edition/s 10-15

Screen printed series of Los Angeles. Each print drawn from scenes of daily life. Similar to the Daily drawing series, Neon Mini’s document the environment, as Murray passes through it. Each print is constructed of layered, neon colors using paper cut stencils. Sometimes up to 15 layers. These small editions are unique vignettes of Los Angeles scenes, through the eyes of a transplant, who is still wearing rose-tinted glasses.

This poster was created with the Troppo Screenprint Social Club - during a four hour workshop I ran with TROPPO, on Sunday 19th March 2023. We worked collectively to develop a work addressing social &/or political concerns - that was our brief!!

Together we created a work that reflects the chatter we have to deal with - the chatter in our minds, from those close to us and from society. Each layer of words/chatter reflected the types of chatter that distract and (sometimes!) disturb us. We compressed the layers of text to 2 separations and printed the whole poster in the (VERY) busy afternoon session. The ink was hardly dry by 5pm but everyone had a go at printing on the one-arm & took a print home. It was a fantastic, hectic, awesome Screenprint Social Club session!!
