The left-hand side of Gallatin, as you’re heading out of Nashville. This side is in shade in the afternoon, which is great for drawing in the summer evenings. It has Wendy’s, Capital City Computers, and Paloma Vintage. VIEW the west side of Gallatin Pike →

OUT DRAWING ON THE PIKE, MONDAY 25 MAY 2026
The Process: I get out on the Pike to draw as often as I can. Usually 4-5 days a week. Morning or evening - rarely during the day. I draw the ink / line work plein air, then take the drawing back to the studio and complete the colour, with gouache. Each work is titled using the time & date it is completed.
EVERY BUILDING BACK ON THE PIKE
An exhibition of 135 Gallatin Pike drawings in the back of a truck …. on The Gallatin Pike. We took the truck to 3 locations on Gallatin Pike, one cool, sunny November morning. HALF WAY HOME (IN A TRUCK) celebrates (what I thought) would be the projects half way point. Turns out it the project was closer to 1/4 finished. Check out the posters here.
