FROM MY PERSPECTIVE

Inspired by the Waylon Jennings (White Lightnin’) album cover and after Every Building on the Sunset Strip by Ed Ruscha, this drawing project started at 6:44pm Tuesday 25 February 2025. Each drawing is 4.7 x 6.3 in (16 x 12cm). Ink pen & gouache on archival museum board (4ply). 233 drawings have been drawn so far. Check out the project here »

Taking inspiration from Ruscha, in early 2025 I set out to document the buildings, food trucks and structures along a 6.5-mile section of the Gallatin Pike, Nashville. The first drawing was completed at 6:44pm Tuesday 25 February 2025, and I’m on track to complete the drawing component of the project by March 2027 and hope to undertake AIR at Maine Media April 2027.

Both sides of Gallatin Pike are being drawn plein air for my ambitious project: Every Building on the Gallatin Pike. The project will capture the complexity and subtly of urban spaces changing under the pressures of gentrification.

There have been four pedestrian related deaths on the Gallatin Pike, since I started this project. These posters were printed with the assistance/support of Amos P Kennedy, in Detroit. 500 posters were printed. They will go up on the intersections of The Gallatin Pike and Douglas, Trinity and Hart Ave over the next two months.
